Branching out from their bottled beer portfolio, this year we have launched our first ever canned beer – titled MK IPA.
This spanking new beverage, launched in July, will feature labels adorned with iconic buildings including Xscape and stadium:mk.
Special label batches have also been issued on both cans and bottles– including the celebration label for 175 years of Wolverton, and looking ahead, one for this year’s Chilli Festival at Frost Garden Centre.
Concrete Cow Brewery owner Dan Bonner said: “The cans are a real first. Concrete Cow is the smallest UK brewery to can its beer with its own in-house canning line, so it’s very exciting.
“The idea stemmed after my canned beers made the final at The Indie Beer Can Festival. After that I thought to myself – this could really work.
“Only a few weeks old MK IPA has already received a positive response. The next step from here would be to introduce another three canned beers to the brand.”
Leading global can maker Rexam has worked closely with the brewery throughout the process from the initial briefing, through to concept development and finally on-can design proofing and production with inspiration being taken from Milton Keynes’ most recognised landmarks.
Dan Bonner added: “It was a huge decision and investment to make the move into cans, but we were supported by Rexam’s guidance throughout every step which made it a reassuring and enjoyable process.
“From speaking with Rexam’s sales team, to working so closely with the design team, they were able to conceptualise our vision for MK IPA and produce an incredible looking can that captures the soul of our brand, which is crucial for us as a craft brewer.”
